Emerald Downs Slack Tide goes wire to wire under Kevin Radke to win the Kent Stakes at Emerald Downs on Sunday.

Speed ruled both stakes races at Emerald Downs Sunday.

First up was the $50,000 Kent for 3-year-old fillies where heavily favored Slack Tide paid $3.80 for her two and one-quarter length victory over Unsolved Mystery.

Slack Tide gave trainer Blaine Wright his fifth stakes victory at the meet, which moved him into solo third on the all-time list with 51 wins.

With Kevin Radke aboard, Slack Tide dueled with Unsolved Mystery through a half-mile in 44.35 seconds and continued their battle until Slack Tide took command nearing the eighth pole. Unsolved Mystery held on well to finish a half-length in front of Golf N Glitter, who rallied late.

The final time was 1:15.50.

“Blaine told me to do whatever I want, and do it confidently, and we’d probably be in front,” said Radke.

A Kentucky-bred daughter of Shaman Ghost, Slack Tide races for Ten Broeck Farm Inc.

Itsallaboutheride’s victory in the $50,000 Irish Day for 3-year-old colts and geldings was a bit more dramatic. He paid $10.60 for his head victory over the Wright-trained Executive Chef, who was favored in the six and one half-furlong sprint.

With Juan Gutierrez riding, Itsallaoubtheride was between A View From Above and Little Casino while they dueled through a half-mile in 44.03 seconds. Little Casino dropped back just after turning for home while the other two battled to the wire. Executive Chef, who lost a lot of momentum while going 5 wide on the turn, joined the fray approaching the eighth pole but could not get past Itsallabouttheride. A View From Above was game in defeat while finishing a half-length behind Executive Chef.

The final time was 1:15.37.

“I was a little worried about Blaine’s horse, but my horse responded when I asked him,” said Gutierrez.

A Washington-bred son of Harbor the Gold, Itsallabouttheride is trained by Bonne Jenne and races for Friendship Stable, Q Stable and Craig Fredrickson.
