Islington can take Yorkshire Oaks

Kazzia and Islington will hook up in a highly competitive renewal of the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks on Wednesday in England. The unbeaten Kazzia, winner of both the 1000 Guineas and the English Oaks, will be a slight favorite over recent Nassau Stakes winner Islington.

But Islington is the selection despite having finished 18 lengths behind Kazzia in the Oaks. The ground was soft at Epsom that day, and Islington showed how much she prefers good to firm ground with her four-length romp in the 1 1/4-mile Group 1 Nassau.

There is the danger of an upset from Sulk. She won the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac in October and bounced back from two poor efforts to be second in the Nassau. Guadalupe, winner of the Italian Oaks, has a longshot's chance, as does Lancashire Oaks winner Mellow Park.
