Ireland: La Petite Coco notches fourth consecutive win with Pretty Polly
La Petite Coco extended her winning streak to four races, three in stakes, with a victory in her 2022 debut in Sunday’s Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at 1 1/4 miles for fillies and mares at the Curragh Racecourse in Ireland.
The $316,000 Pretty Polly Stakes was La Petite Coco’s first start in a race at the highest level and gave trainer Paddy Twomey his first Group 1 win.
Ridden by Billy Lee, La Petite Coco ($11.80) was always near the front and won by a half-length over My Astra, the 2-1 favorite. Rosscarbery, also trained by Twomey, finished third at 19-1, but was disqualified and listed as unplaced after jockey Wayne Lordan weighed in five pounds below his assigned weight.
As a result, Thunder Kiss (37-1) was promoted to third in the field of nine.
La Petite Coco won the Group 2 Blandford Stakes for fillies and mares at the Curragh last September for the Team Valor partnership in her final start of 2021.
A 4-year-old filly by Ruler of the World, La Petite Coco has won 5 of 8 starts.
