Irap, Denman's Call among O'Neill workers

ARCADIA, Calif. – The 2017 stakes winners Denman’s Call, Irap, and Ann Arbor Eddie were among 34 workers for trainer Doug O’Neill on the main track at Santa Anita on Friday.
Irap, who finished 18th in the Kentucky Derby, worked five furlongs in 59.80 seconds and is a candidate for the Belmont Stakes on June 10. The workout was Irap’s first since the Kentucky Derby. Owned by Paul and Zillah Reddam, Irap won the Grade 2 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on April 15.
Denman’s Call won the Grade 1 Triple Bend Stakes in March and was seventh in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes on May 6. Denman’s Call worked five furlongs from the gate in 1:00.20 on Friday and is expected to start in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile at Belmont Park on June 10.
Ann Arbor Eddie, a winner of two stakes for statebreds last winter, worked three furlongs in 35.60 seconds, his first major exercise since returning from a minor injury. Ann Arbor Eddie has not raced since finishing fifth in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes on March 11.
Overall, there were 146 workouts on the main track on Friday.
Stellar Wind, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2015, worked six furlongs in 1:12.80. Trained by John Sadler, Stellar Wind won the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park on April 14 in her only start of 2017.
Stellar Wind is a leading contender for the Grade 1 Beholder Mile at Santa Anita on June 3.
