Iowa veterinarian Bradley Gordon suspended by Prairie Meadows
The Prairie Meadows board of stewards has issued a summary suspension to a veterinarian after he was found to be “in possession of prohibited substances” and had allegedly falsified veterinary records that were submitted to state racing officials, according to a copy of the ruling provided by the state racing commission.
Bradley Gordon was issued the suspension on Sept. 22 after a search three days earlier turned up the prohibited substances, which were not identified in the ruling. The ruling also stated that Gordon on that day had “incomplete and/or falsified log reports submitted to [the] state veterinarian.”

The ruling said that Gordon was being issued the summary suspension because his conduct “has been dishonest, undesirable, detrimental to, or reflects negatively on, the integrity or best interests of racing and gaming.”
The ruling stated that the conduct was considered a violation of rules in Iowa and under the protocols established earlier this year by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, which requires veterinarians to submit accurate treatment reports to state racing officials. A batch of HISA’s rules went into effect in a majority of U.S. racing jurisdictions on July 1.
A hearing for Gordon has not yet been scheduled, officials for the racing commission said.
