Invader Rubber Biscuit easy to swallow in feature

Adam Goss|Jun 13, 2001

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Gloria's Buck and Rubber Biscuit are the horses to beat in a field of nine in Friday's feature at Assiniboia, a seven-furlong race for conditioned claimers.

Rubber Biscuit has been running at Sam Houston and Lone Star Park in Texas, and will be making his first start at Assiniboia for trainer Patti Ross, who has an excellent win percentage with horses making their first appearance out of her barn.

Rohan Singh will ride Rubber Biscuit, who will break from the outside post 9.

Gloria's Buck won his first two lifetime starts and then ran second behind Gus Again at this level last time out.

Trained by Emile Corbel, Gloria's Buck will break from the rail and appears to be the speed of the race under jockey Danny Vergara.

Rim Dancer, trained by Clint Willson, just missed getting up for a victory facing this caliber field in his latest race, and he could be especially dangerous if a pace battle develops. Rim Dancer will break from post 2 under Jerry Pruitt.

Completing the field, in post-position order from the outside of Gloria's Buck, are Senor Markos, Valour Road Mb, Castle Rock, Brass Ruhler, Rocket Rem, and Freeable.

Corporate Shuffle pulls familiar feat

Corporate Shuffle began his 2001 Assiniboia campaign Sunday in the same way he closed out 2000, by winning a race. On Sunday his victory came in the Golden Boy, by eight lengths.

Owned by K-5 Stable and trained by Darla Singh, Corporate Shuffle is now 6 for 6 at Assiniboia Downs. The $16,500 winner's share of the Golden Boy increased his lifetime earnings to $86,100.

Ridden by Rohan Sing, Corporate Shuffle returned $3.10 to win.

Kenyawin was second and Wartock third, followed in order by U Otabe Wild, Northern Ace, and Boldanzar.
