This will be just the sixth running of this 5f handicap for three-year-olds rated 0-105, so more evidence is clearly required, but already four quite interesting areas are worth throwing into the argument.
There have been some surprise results down the years but this Group 1 affair for three-year-old fillies usually goes more or less the way of The Form Book and especially of late with 21 of the last 25 winners found at no bigger than 6/1 with 12 starting favourite or joint market leader.
The King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2) has long been a punter-friendly race, with 20 of the last 31 winners starting either favourite or second favourite, aided by just two double-figure fields in the last 13 years.
For the eighth year the Sandringham will be run as a standard handicap featuring around 30 runners rather than a Listed handicap so to all intents and purposes, it is basically now the fillies’ Britannia Stakes for three-year-olds.
