Godolphin, as usual, has dominated turf-route racing during the 2019 Dubai World Cup Carnival and they did so again on the Super Saturday card at Meydan Racecourse.
Capezzano went into Saturday’s program at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai with the look of a Group 2-level dirt miler. He came out of it looking like a contender for the $12 million Dubai World Cup on March 30 after winning the Group 1, $600,000 Maktoum Challenge Round 3 by 9 1/2 lengths.
American expatriate trainer Doug Watson always has a strong dirt division for the Dubai World Cup Carnival, and Watson showed it in landing two dirt stakes early on the Super Saturday card at Meydan.
Blue Point enhanced his status as the favorite for the $2 million Al Quoz Sprint on the Dubai World Cup program of March 30, while Divine Image ran herself into Kentucky Oaks consideration in early races Saturday at Meydan Racecourse at Dubai.
Sunday, Simply Brilliant appears well placed to win for the third time at the current Hong Kong season in the Lavender Handicap at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Sha Tin.
