Intanga Rose starting season in Star Shoot

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The unbeaten Intanga Rose will prep for the June 8 Woodbine Oaks when she returns from a layoff in Sunday’s $100,000 Star Shoot Stakes, a six-furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine.
Owned by Stronach Stable, Intanga Rose rallied four wide to win her five-furlong debut in maiden special weight company on Aug. 11. After breaking a bit slowly, she was more forwardly placed Sept. 14 in her only other outing, when she won a six-furlong allowance with a 78 Beyer Speed Figure.
Intanga Rose wintered at Gulfstream with trainer Sid Attard, who said she is ready to roll.
“She’s been training very nicely,” Attard said. “She worked about seven times. I’m very pleased with her. I think she’s a really nice filly.”
The Star Shoot lured a field of 10. It goes as the sixth on an abbreviated eight-race program.

KEY CONTENDERS
Intanga Rose, by Animal Kingdom
Beyers: 78-64
◗ Attard said Intanga Rose had to bypass a stakes engagement last fall due to a minor injury.
“She was supposed to run again, but she came up with a splint,” Attard said. “We gave her some time off and [worked on] the splint. It was too late to start her up again, so we left her alone.”
◗ Her rider, Eurico Da Silva, is trying to win the Star Shoot for the second year in a row.
Sister Peacock, by Real Solution
Last 3 Beyers: 77-71-70
◗ After romping in a pair of sprints on the Tapeta here in the fall, the speedy Kentucky-bred ran second in back-to-back one-mile starter stakes on the grass at Gulfstream. Cutting back to a sprint should be ideal for Sister Peacock, who possesses a fitness advantage over most of her rivals.
My Gal Betty, by Point of Entry
Last 3 Beyers: 63-74-77
◗ She was among the leading juveniles fillies in Canada last year, winning the Catch A Glimpse and My Dear stakes. She was scratched from a stakes at Keeneland after ending up eighth in her March 2 season opener, the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride on the grass at Gulfstream.
Power Gal, by Empire Maker
Last 3 Beyers: 61-71-66
◗ After taking the one-mile Martha Washington Stakes Feb. 2 at Oaklawn, she finished up the track there in the Grade 3 Honeybee. This will be her first synthetic track start.
Si Si Tequila, by Yes It’s True
Last 3 Beyers: 63-62-72
◗ She dropped a neck decision to stablemate Souper Charlotte here the last time she saw action Nov. 11 in the seven-furlong Glorious Song Stakes. Like Power Gal, she’s trained by Mark Casse, who won last year’s Star Shoot with Sly Beauty.
