Instilled Regard, Selcourt getting time off

ARCADIA, Calif. – The 2018 graded stakes winners Instilled Regard and Selcourt have been taken out of training.
Instilled Regard, who finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby, is currently based at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said.
“He’s on a break right now,” Hollendorfer said.
Hollendorfer did not say when Instilled Regard would rejoin his stable. Owned by Larry Best, Instilled Regard has won 2 of 8 starts and earned $394,000.
Instilled Regard won the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds in January and was later fourth behind Justify in the $1 million Santa Anita Derby on April 7. In the Kentucky Derby, Instilled Regard closed from 17th to finish 4 1/4 lengths behind Justify at odds of 85-1.
Selcourt will miss a scheduled start in the Grade 1 Beholder Mile at Santa Anita on June 2, trainer John Sadler said.
Sadler said Selcourt underwent precautionary tests earlier this week that did not reveal any significant injuries, but have postponed her next start until the summer.
“She’ll miss the Beholder and we’ll point for Del Mar,” he said. “We’ve had to slow up a little bit.”
Selcourt is unbeaten in three stakes this year, including the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes at seven furlongs for fillies and mares on March 24. Owned by a partnership that includes owner and breeder Keith Abrahams, Selcourt has won 4 of 6 starts and earned $283,920.
The field for the $400,000 Beholder Mile for fillies and mares is led by Unique Bella, the champion female sprinter of 2017, and Paradise Woods, a two-time Grade 1 winner last year.
