Injury knocks My Bad out of Queen's Plate

My Bad is out of the $1 million Queen's Plate at Woodbine on June 21 after a ligament injury emerged following his five-furlong workout last Friday.

"When he breezed the other day, he came back and he looked like he was fine," said Martha Gonzalez, wife and assistant to My Bad's trainer, Nick Gonzalez. "But then I trained him, and he wasn't."

"It's good that we caught it when we did . . . We're going to re-evaluate him in 30 days, and go from there."

My Bad, owned and bred by the Tucci Stable of Carlo and Lou Tucci, won a restricted second-level allowance here May 22 for which he earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 92. That 1 1/16-mile race was My Bad's first around two turns. While he was not nominated to the 1 1/4-mile Queen's Plate, the Tuccis had planned to ante up the $25,000 supplementary fee on entry day.
