Injured Dubawi retired

Matt Hegarty|Oct 07, 2005

Dubawi, the winner of the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas and the Group 1 Jacques Le Marois, has been retired after injuring a ligament in his hind leg, the owner of the colt, Godolphin Racing, said on its website.

Dubawi, a son of Dubai Millennium who was bred by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's Darley Stud in Ireland, was being pointed to the Breeders' Cup Mile on Oct. 29 at Belmont Park, where he would have been among the favorites. In his final start, the 3-year-old Dubawi finished second to Starcraft in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes. In total, he won 5 of 8 starts, 4 of them group races.

Stud plans for Dubawi have not been finalized.
