Michael Burns Inflexibility edged Enstone to win Sunday's Wonder Where Stakes at Woodbine in course-record time.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Inflexibility will look to double up on the Woodbine turf in Sunday’s $125,000 Carotene Stakes for Ontario-bred 3-year-old fillies over 1 1/8 miles on the E.P. Taylor course.

Based in New York with trainer Chad Brown, Inflexibility shipped to Woodbine for three starts over the summer, finishing third in both the Woodbine Oaks and Queen’s Plate and getting her first stakes victory in the Wonder Where over 1 1/4 miles on turf July 30.

“I got a perfect trip the whole way,” jockey Luis Contreras said following the 1 3/4-length victory over Enstone in the Wonder Where. “She was pulling and pulling. She was really strong the whole way. From the quarter pole to the wire, I had to ride her hard because I thought I wasn’t going to go past [Enstone]. The last sixteenth of a mile, she was more confident on the lead.”

Contreras retains the mount.

Following the Wonder Where, Inflexibility returned to New York and finished a close fourth in the Grade 2 Sands Point over 1 1/8 miles on turf at Belmont Park in her most recent start Sept. 16.

Key Contenders

Inflexibility, by Scat Daddy
Last 3 Beyers: 88-86-89

◗ Inflexibility finished 1 1/4 lengths behind La Coronel in the Sands Point. La Coronel subsequently won the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup on Oct. 14 at Keeneland.

Mythical Mission, by Giant’s Causeway
Last 3 Beyers: 83-82-79

◗ She’s still seeking her first stakes victory after placing in five of her last six stakes starts.

◗ The 1 1/8-mile trip may suit her well after she earned a career-best 93 Beyer Speed Figure at the distance when second to Holy Helena in the Woodbine Oaks on Tapeta back in June.

Silent Sonet, by Silent Name
Last 3 Beyers: 83-77-88

◗ She rebounded from a troubled trip in the Passing Mood Stakes to take the La Prevoyante Stakes by 6 1/4 lengths over a mile on turf Sept. 10.

Ghostly Presence, by Ghostzapper
Last 3 Beyers: 86-84-68

◗ Her form has improved considerably since her fifth-place finish in the Wonder Where. She won a second-level allowance by 4 3/4 lengths Sept. 2 and then finished second to Let It Ride Mom in the La Lorgnette Stakes on Sept. 30.

Turf-endurance finale

The final leg of the Woodbine turf-endurance series will be contested Sunday over 2 1/4 miles. Tesseron has enough points to wrap up the title regardless of his finish position Sunday but should be considered a major player while coming off wins in the previous two races in the series.

Sine Metu has finished second to Tesseron in back-to-back starts and will be looking to turn the tables on his rival. Major Production could be primed for an upset, having run his last two starts beyond two miles on Tapeta at Presque Isle Downs.
