Infinite Patience should stay perfect in Sadie Diamond Futurity

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Just how good Infinite Patience is remains to be seen. It isn’t likely we will know more after she runs in the $100,000 Sadie Diamond Futurity at Hastings on Saturday.
After all, she has not been tested in winning her three starts by a combined 25 1/4 lengths. On top of that, she was never turned loose at any point when she won the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes over Fully Lent in her last start on Aug. 30.
The Barbara Heads trainee paid $2.10 across the board for her “breeze” in the Sales Stakes and will undoubtedly be a prohibitive favorite in the 6 1/2-furlong Sadie Diamond, which drew five 2-year-old fillies. It goes as race 2 on a seven-race card that begins at 1:50 p.m. Pacific.
With Antonio Reyes aboard, Infinite Patience has led at every call in each of her races. She set an honest pace when she won her debut by 9 1/4 lengths on July 19. In her romp in the $75,000 B.C. Cup Debutante, she was chased through a rapid half-mile in 45.49 seconds by Everything’s Quiet. The runner-up, Enchanted Lady, easily won her next start in a maiden special weight race. Catchacougar, third, came back to win the $51,000 Princess Margaret Stakes at Century Mile on Aug. 25.
Reyes had a firm grip on Infinite Patience when she posted a 47.04 second half-mile time in the Sales Stakes, and never moved a muscle the rest of the way.
“Antonio doesn’t want her to get too amped up, so he tried to slow her down in her last race,” said Heads. “It isn’t easy because she has so much natural ability.”
One of the few people not conceding the winner’s share of the purse in the Sadie Diamond to Infinite Patience is her trainer.
“It’s a horse race,” said Heads. “I never get ahead of myself.”
Really?
“What can I say?” said Heads. “She came out of her last race in great shape and I loved her work. She’s awesome.”
She will break from post 3 with Reyes up.
KEY CONTENDERS
Infinite Patience, by Sungold
Last 3 Beyers: 71-71-66
◗ She has done everything so easily it is hard to imagine her getting beat here. She will be under some early pressure from Everything’s Quiet, but despite setting quick fractions in the Debutante, she ran away and hid.
Fully Lent, by Lent
Last 3 Beyers: 60-50-45
◗ Trained by Dave Forster, she chased Infinite Patience last time, but with Everything’s Quiet in the field she could get a nice trip stalking off what could be a fast pace.
Sophie Soleil, by Sungold
Beyer Speed Figure: 49
◗ Also trained by Heads, she showed some promise when she rallied to finish second to Enchanted Lady in her debut.
◗ She figures to move forward with the experience, plus there will be speed coming back to her.
