Indomable Cartel tops qualifiers for Cherry Creek Futurity

Indomable Cartel brings the fastest qualifying time into the $74,680 Cherry Creek Futurity on Saturday at Arapahoe Park. The race is one of two stakes on the card for Quarter Horses. The $59,580 Lucille Rowe Derby is led by the fillies Shes My Foose and Perkin Desire.
The Cherry Creek Futurity, at 330 yards, and the Lucille Rowe, at 350 yards, are both restricted to horses bred in Colorado. The races are among the richest stakes offerings at Arapahoe.
Indomable Cartel was a length and three quarter winner of his trial June 30, covering 330 yards in 17.05 seconds. He led throughout in what was his first start in his native Colorado after launching his career in Oklahoma. Fernando Fonseca-Soto has the mount from post 4 for trainer Luz Chavira.
Its a Blackjack, the second-fastest qualifier for the Cherry Creek, will break right outside of Indomable Cartel in post 5. Its a Blackjack won his June 30 trail by a neck in 17.17 seconds. Stormy Smith has the mount for trainer John Hammes.
The horses are part of a field of 10.
Shes My Foose and Perkin Desire are among six fillies in the 10-horse Lucille Rowe. Both won their 350-yard trials in 17.86 seconds June 30, the fastest times for the series. Shes My Foose led throughout for a head win, while Perkin Desire also won on the front end, by a length and a quarter. Shes My Foose drew the rail for Saturday, while Perkin Desire will break from post 3.
