Indiana Downs: Lonesome Street wins J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys and Girls Club

Lonesome Street came from last early to circle the field on the far turn and into the stretch and win the $105,000 J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys and Girls Club at Indiana Downs Wednesday evening.

Lonesome Street demonstrated a reversal of his usual tactics under Jockey Julien Leparoux. In his first four starts of this season, Lonesome Street led at the first call. Leparoux chose a new plan of attack on Wednesday, taking Lonesome Street back.

Trained by Mike Maker, Lonesome Street won by one length. Kingofthebluegrass took the lead in late stretch before being overtaken by the winner and finished second, 2 1/4 lengths in front of I’m So Lucky in third. The running time for the one-mile event over firm turf was 1.37.80 and Lonesome Street returned $5 to win.
