Indiana Derby winner Leading Change possible for Travers

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Leading Change, the Grade 3 Indiana Derby winner in his second career start, worked five furlongs in 59.80 seconds Saturday at Churchill Downs as he prepares for a possible start in the Travers on Aug. 29. He worked in company with Dragoon Guard.

“His numbers stack up, I think he’ll handle the distance,” trainer Brad Cox said. “Obviously, light on seasoning. Good colt, it just took us a little while to get him to the races.”

Cox said the Indiana Derby was “a big ask in his second start. Though it was a big effort. He’s come out of it good. Not a lot of options.”

Cox said no decision has been made on where Commandment, the Grade 1 Florida Derby winner who finished second in the Jim Dandy, would run next.
