Indian Tiva tries two turns in Enchantress
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Indian Tiva will find herself in a rare spot Sunday in the $85,000 Enchantress at Sunland Park. She will be looking to get back into the win column while also making her first start around two turns. The one-mile race is restricted to 3-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico.
The field also includes Tipsy Tea and Sunday Rose, both of whom are stakes-placed, and the promising Carmon’s Song.
But the focus will be on Indian Tiva. She is the most accomplished member of the field as a winner of three of seven starts, with two of her victories coming in stakes. Indian Tiva won the $55,000 Permian Basin over open company in October at Zia and then dominated the track’s $151,000 New Mexico Cup Lassie in November.

KEY CONTENDERS
Indian Tiva (Last 3 Beyers: 35-62-72)
◗ She is out to rebound from a fifth-place finish in the $85,000 La Senora on Dec. 26 at Sunland. It was the first time Indian Tiva had finished off the board in her career. She was the favorite in the six-furlong race, which went in a quick 1:10.20.
◗ Since that start, Indian Tiva has worked well for breeder, owner, and trainer Barbara Brown, breezing five furlongs in 1:01.60 on Jan. 14 at Sunland.
◗ Indian Tiva will break from post 3 under Elvin Gonzalez, and the closer could get a decent pace to run down, with others in the race stretching out for the first time.
◗ Indian Tiva’s sire and dam both had success at sprint distances.
Carmon’s Song (Last 3 Beyers: 54-58-24)
◗ She gets pedigree support for the move to two turns as a daughter of Song of Navarone, a past winner of the Sunland Park Derby and Sunland Park Handicap.
