Incredibolt, winner of the Grade 3 Street Sense Stakes at Churchill Downs on Oct. 26, worked five furlongs in 1:02.30 at Palm Meadows on Friday morning for a scheduled start in the Grade 3, $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 31. Trainer Riley Mott, who actually caught Incredibolt slightly faster (1:01.80), said his horse tracked a stablemate, the unraced maiden Wine Country, and finished on even terms. It was Incredibolt’s sixth work since Mott brought him down here following a brief respite at Pin Oak Stud. “Everything to this point has gone according to plan, which has been nice,” Mott said. “The horse seems to be coming around the right way for us. Hopefully he keeps improving all the time, but we’re excited to see how he runs next Saturday.” Incredibolt, a son of Bolt d’Oro, has won 2 of 3 starts, all with Jaime Torres in the irons. Torres worked the horse at Palm Meadows on Friday and will be aboard in the Holy Bull. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! Sovereignty won the Fountain of Youth to begin his 3-year-old season on his way to winning the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Travers. “We’ve got a ways to go to match that horse,” Riley Mott said. Entries for the Holy Bull are to be taken on Sunday. Among those expected to enter are Nearly, winner of a first-level allowance race at Gulfstream on Jan. 2; Bravaro, winner of the Sleepy Hollow Stakes at Aqueduct; and maiden winners Global Aviator, Cannoneer, Roger That Dana, and Project Ace. The first five finishers of the Holy Bull earn qualifying points to the Kentucky Derby (20-10-6-4-2). ◗ Antiquarian, the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup winner, worked three furlongs in 39.20 seconds Thursday morning at Palm Beach Downs, his first work since the Breeders’ Cup Classic, where he finished eighth. Trainer Todd Pletcher said races like the Gulfstream Park Mile on Feb. 28 or the Ghostzapper Stakes on March 28 are in play for Antiquarian’s return. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
