Inaudible brings strong bloodlines to debut

Steve Andersen|Jun 10, 2020

The first-time starter Inaudible brings a lofty reputation to a maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies on Friday at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Mike Casselman for his brother-in-law, owner and breeder Steve Burns, Inaudible is out of Little Talks, best known for winning the 2015 Golden State Million Futurity and the 2016 Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders’ Derby.

Little Talks retired in 2017 after winning 8 of 15 starts and earning $563,897. That spring, Little Talks was bred via embryo transfer to Foose, a mating that resulted in Inaudible. Little Talks has two 3-year-olds this year, and two 2-year-olds since Quarter Horse breeders are allowed to register multiple foals out of the same mare through embryo transfers.

Inaudible had slow 220-yard works from the gate in April and on May 2, but a sharper workout in 12.50 seconds on May 12 in preparation for Friday’s 300-yard race. She is part of a field of nine and is one of two first-time starters in the field along with Maya India.

First post at Los Alamitos is 6 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

Of the seven runners with experience, Flight Queen and Keep Listening are likely to attract attention from bettors.

Keep Listening, trained by Matt Fales, was second in a 300-yard maiden race for fillies on May 22, finishing 1 1/2 lengths behind heavily favored Apollitical Patty.

Flight Queen, trained by Scott Willoughby, was a troubled fourth in the same race, sustaining a bump at the start and missing third by a nose. Flight Queen broke from the rail in that race and has the outside post here.

Trainer Cesar DeAlba starts One Sweet Venom, who was sixth in the May 22 race. DeAlba, who retired from riding at the end of 2018, rode Little Talks.

Chance to Excel blazes in trial

La Jaconde, winner of the $279,200 Kindergarten Futurity on May 17 at Los Alamitos, is the only stakes winner among 10 qualifiers for the $1.11 million Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 21.

La Jaconde won a division of the Ed Burke trials at 350 yards on Sunday in 17.64 seconds to record the fifth-fastest qualifying time.

Chance to Excel set the fastest qualifying time of 17.31, winning the seventh of 12 trials. The time was the fastest by a 2-year-old at Los Alamitos since Heza Dasha Fire won the 2014 Ed Burke in 17.22.

Chance to Excel is trained by Monty Arrossa for Valeriano Racing.

Other qualifiers are Terrific Temper, Strange Fellow, BF Outfoosed, Thats R Best Card, Coronas Big Flash, Jess Lyndes Reason, SC Divas Cartel Man, and Jess Paint Me.
