Inagoodway goes for three-peat in More Than Even Stakes

Inagoodway wins the 2018 Fair Meadows Distance Distaff
Coady Photography Inagoodway has four opponents in the More Than Even Stakes on Monday.

Inagoodway will attempt to win the $55,000 More Than Even Stakes for the third year in a row Monday at Will Rogers Downs, and to do so she will have to defeat a pair of up-and-coming fillies in Spring Steen and She’s Shiney.

The More Than Even is a 1 1/16-mile race restricted to fillies and mares bred in Oklahoma.

Inagoodway is part of a five-horse field rounded out by Teaspoon and Socks, both of whom are coming off fourth-place finishes in conditioned allowance route races at Will Rogers.

KEY CONTENDERS

Inagoodway, by Save Big Money

Last 3 Beyers: 41-69-45

◗ Inagoodway first won the More Than Even in 2017 at the age of 4. She repeated last year at 5 when wiring her rivals by a length. Her other stakes win came in the $145,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff in 2017 at Remington Park.

◗ The three stakes scores all came at two turns, and Inagoodway will be stretching back out in distance off a fifth-place finish to Spring Steen in the $55,000 Miranda Diane at six furlongs April 29 at Will Rogers.

◗ The last time Inagoodway raced around two turns she was second in a starter allowance at a mile April 3 at Will Rogers. The out was her first in more than five months, and she could be sitting on a peak race Monday in her third start since October.

◗ Inagoodway has worked back-to-back bullets at Will Rogers since the Miranda Diane, among them five-eighths in 59.80 seconds May 13.

◗ Luis Quinonez has the mount from post 3 for trainer Mark Buehrer.

Spring Steen, by Maclean’s Music

Last 3 Beyers: 82-73-68

◗ She is the one to catch. Spring Steen set strong fractions and went on to a nine-length win in the Miranda Diane, her second straight sprint win at the meet. She also wired her rivals in a first-level allowance April 8, winning off by 9 1/2 lengths.

◗ Spring Steen owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure, an 82 for the Miranda Diane.

◗ The More Than Even will be just her second start at two turns, with her first a third-place finish in the $70,000 Useeit for 3-year-old fillies bred in Oklahoma. The mile race was Dec. 16 at Remington.

◗ Curtis Kimes has the mount from post 4 for trainer Francisco Bravo.

She’s Shiney, by Save Big Money

Last 3 Beyers: 77-63-62

◗ She’s won both of her starts at the meet, starting with a conditioned allowance at 5 1/2 furlongs March 25. She’s Shiney then stretched out to a mile and won the $55,000 Cinema Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by 14 1/4 lengths April 22.
