Imprimis headed to Tampa for Turf Dash

Marty McGee|Feb 10, 2021

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Imprimis, one of the more accomplished turf sprinters of recent seasons, is skipping the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint on Saturday to race instead a week later in the Feb. 13 Turf Dash at Tampa, said trainer Joe Orseno.

Gulfstream has banned Lasix treatment for all stakes, whereas Tampa still permits it, and “that’s the deciding factor,” said Orseno.

At least six older horses are expected for the $100,000 Gulfstream Turf Sprint, with Leinster among the likely favorites. Also set for Saturday is the Grade 3, $100,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint, with Mischevious Alex and Shivaree among the principals in the six-furlong race on the main track.
