Imprimis considered for Twin Spires Turf Sprint

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Another horse who burned up the Gulfstream work tab Sunday is Imprimis, an undefeated turf-sprint specialist who zipped four furlongs on the grass in 45.80 seconds. Imprimis is perfect in three starts, most recently cruising to a 4 1/4-length optional-claiming victory in his first appearance since being purchased privately by Breeze Easy LLC and turned over to trainer Joe Orseno earlier this winter.
“I thought he went in around 47 and change, that’s how easy he did it,” said Orseno. “But the turf course is super fast right now and he was working way outside on a part of the course they never really use much. As fast as he went, though, it was the gallop-out that really impressed me. It was phenomenal. It’s been a long time since I had one like this.”
Imprimis, a 4-year-old Florida bred son of Broken Vow, has improved with every start while earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 99 for his most recent performance. Orseno said he’s leaning toward starting Imprimis next in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs on May 4.
“We bought him thinking he would be a really good horse to race in Florida against Florida-breds this summer,” said Orseno. “But after that last race, we’re going to take him out of town.”
