“I was excited about going to the barn and working him yesterday,” Orseno said Monday. “He wound up hooking in with another team out there, but my rider did a great job getting him away from them. The last thing I needed was for him to try to run by those horses in his first work back. He seems to enjoy the synthetic. I think it’s a little kinder on him, and I have no problem getting him ready on that track.”
Orseno said if all goes well he’s hoping to bring Imprimis back for the five-furlong Silks Run here March 19 as a prep for the Grade 2 Shakertown in April at Keeneland, a race he won in 2019 and lost by a nose last spring.
