The Important One in realistic spot for season debut

ELMONT, N.Y. – The Important One does not appear to have found an overly difficult field to make her 4-year-old debut on Thursday in the featured second-level allowance for New York-breds scheduled for six furlongs on turf.
A daughter of Majestic City, The Important One has not run since finishing last of seven in this condition here last October. But the filly has run well fresh in the past, including a better-than-looks fifth in this same condition last August at Saratoga. The Important One was beaten just 1 3/4 lengths by Lead Guitar, who came back to win three more races, including two listed stakes.
The Important One also has shown the ability to handle a wet main track if Wednesday’s forecasted rains force this race to the dirt.
Jose Ortiz rides from post 5 for Steve Asmussen.
Silky Blue and Screamin’ By, second and third, respectively, behind Gotta Go Mo in this same condition April 18 at Aqueduct, are the logical contenders in the field.
Purrageous Dyna is a five-time winner, including a victory in this same condition going seven furlongs here in October 2019.
First post Thursday is 3:05 p.m.
