Imperialism to stand in Florida

Imperialism, a multiple Grade 2 winner, has been retired and will join Florida's stallion ranks in 2007. Manny Andrade's Get Away Farm in Lowell, Fla., has purchased the 5-year-old Langfuhr horse privately.

The farm has not yet announced a fee.

Bred in Florida by Farnsworth Farms and raced by Steve Taub, Imperialism won six of his 29 starts, scoring his Grade 2 wins in the Pat O'Brien Breeders' Cup Handicap, San Rafael Stakes, and San Vicente Stakes. Trained by Kristin Mulhall, he also placed in four other graded stakes, including three Grade 1's. He was third in Smarty Jones's Kentucky Derby in 2004. He last raced on March 12, finishing eighth in the Santana Mile Handicap at Santa Anita. He retires with a record of 6-5-3 and $899,772 in earnings.

Imperialism is a son of the Pass the Tab mare Bodhavista.
