Imperial Hint to face five as he seeks Vosburgh repeat

ELMONT, N.Y. – Imperial Hint already scored a second straight victory in Saratoga’s Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap. Saturday, he will be heavily favored to record a second straight win in the Grade 1, $300,000 Vosburgh Stakes at six furlongs.
Imperial Hint won last year’s Vosburgh at odds of 1-5 and figures to be close to that price again on Saturday. Six horses were entered, including Promises Fulfilled and Firenze Fire.
Promises Fulfilled won the Grade 2 John A. Nerud Stakes here in July but finished last in the Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga last out.
Firenze Fire is 3 for 4 at Belmont and is coming off a runner-up finish in the Forego.
Imperial Hint drew post 4 with Promises Fulfilled and Firenze Fire outside of him in posts 5 and 6. The inside three horses are Call Paul, American Power, and Brown Buckeye.
Our Country seeks rebound in Pilgrim
Our Country, fourth as the favorite in the Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes, will look to rebound in Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Pilgrim Stakes for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles.
Our Country was an impressive maiden winner at Saratoga on Aug. 3, but stumbled badly at the break of the With Anticipation and finished fourth.
Andesite, who finished a neck in front of Our Country in that race, is also back in this field. Also entered are Famished, Maxwell Esquire, No Lime, No Word, Structor, The Gray Blur, and Tuggle.
