Imperial Eagle will point to Hobbs America Futurity
All American Futurity winner Imperial Eagle is being pointed for trials for the Grade 2 Hobbs America Futurity at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., trainer Tony Sedillo said on Wednesday. The trials are to be run Sept. 24. The 400-yard finale is Oct. 9.
Imperial Eagle won his fourth straight race in the Grade 1, $3 million All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. He was the fastest overall qualifier for the race, and was a neck winner as the favorite. The All American is the richest 2-year-old offering available to Quarter Horses.
“I thought it was a pretty awesome race,” Sedillo said. “He showed he runs that last 40 yards super good.”
Sedillo said Imperial Eagle is now based at Zia Park. He trains the horse for Charles E. Robinson.
Imperial Eagle had won three trial races for various Ruidoso futurities leading up to the All American. Overall, he has won 4 of 6 starts.
