I'm a Kittyhawk tops longshot exacta in Ballade

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The 27-1 I’m a Kittyhawk outran another bomber, 25-1 shot Kay’s Grace, to take the $125,400 Ballade Stakes on holiday Monday at Woodbine.
Tahnee set a fast pace in the six-furlong sprint for Ontario-sired females, posting fractions of 22.11 and 44.39 while being tracked by the favored Executive Allure.
I’m a Kittyhawk rallied wide from mid-pack under strong urging from David Moran as Kay’s Grace closed inside from fourth, and I’m a Kittyhawk prevailed by a half-length in 1:09.32. Executive Allure edged out Tahnee for third in a field reduced to nine with the scratch of Silent Treat.
Making her first start of the year, I’m a Kittyhawk ($56.90) earned $75,000 for a partnership that includes trainer Franz Crean.
“She wintered great, and she trained wonderful this spring,” said Crean. “Davey rides her like he owns her. I never give him any instructions.”
