Illness sidelines Prospect Park

DEL MAR, Calif. – Prospect Park, the winner of the Grade 3 La Jolla Handicap at Del Mar in August, has been turned out for 30 days because of a recent illness, trainer Clifford Sise said.
Prospect Park was being considered for the Twilight Derby at Santa Anita on Oct. 24 when he was taken out of training. He has been sent to owners Marty and Pam Wygod’s River Edge Farm, Sise said.
Prospect Park will miss the $300,000 Hollywood Derby at Del Mar on Nov. 28, one of two Grade 1 races at the track’s autumn meeting.
By Tapit, Prospect Park has won 3 of 11 starts and earned $426,570.
Obey held out of stakes
Obey, the winner of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Stakes at Del Mar in July, missed Thursday’s Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar because of an apparent bruised foot, trainer Sam Scolamieri said.
“She’s got something small going on, maybe a bruise,” he said. “It’s pretty slight. I could have run her, but I wanted to play it safe.”
Owned by Ted Serna, Obey has won 2 of 3 starts. She was fifth in the Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 28 in her most recent start. Scolamieri said Obey will race around one turn for the foreseeable future.
“She’s a sprinter,” Scolamieri said. “I have no intention of going beyond that.”
