Il Malocchio easy victor in La Prevoyante

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Favored Il Malocchio prevailed with ease in Saturday’s $100,500 La Prevoyante at Woodbine, her second stakes success in a row under a red-hot Sahin Civaci.
Il Malocchio raced three-wide in mid-pack about five lengths off a quick pace set by Swinging Mandy in the 1 1/16-mile route for Ontario-sired females.
Il Malocchio ($4.70) made her way into contention on the far turn and then hit the front at the three-sixteenths pole before coasting home on top by 4 1/4 lengths, in a time of 1:44.86.
Silent Causeway, last year’s La Prevoyante winner, rallied outside from the rear of the field to finish second over Strega. Golden Vision, Talk to Ya Later, Swinging Mandy, Lady Moonshine, November Fog and Lorena completed the order of finish.

“On the first turn, I just had a little bump there - nothing serious,” Civaci said. “Overall, the trip was really nice. Everything went smoothly, and she has a nice kick down the lane.”
Il Malocchio notched her first graded stakes in her previous start over 1 1/4 miles in the Grade 3 Maple Leaf. The daughter of Souper Speedy collected $60,000 for owner-breeder Franco Meli.
Winning trainer Marty Drexler said Il Malocchio is headed to the farm for a respite.
“She’s going to get a little break now, and then we’ll figure out next year,” Drexler said. “I liked her a lot today. She really went into this nice.”
