HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Jose D’Angelo figures to be sending out the heavy favorite, the newly acquired Ifyousaidso, in Friday’s $70,000 allowance feature. The race drew a field of seven 3-year-old fillies and is scheduled to be run at five furlongs on the grass, weather permitting. Ifyousaidso was purchased by his current owners, Dare to Dream Stable, during an Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. online sale earlier this winter. The daughter of Cajun Breeze began her career with trainer Michael Yates, who sent her out to a pair of victories in four previous starts. Those included a game win in a similarly conditioned race at odds of 37-1 despite racing near the deep rail here Jan. 8. She earned an 82 Beyer Speed Figure, far and away a career-best, in the process. “I’m very happy with her. She’s been working well, and I expect her to run well on Friday,” D’Angelo said. “I know she has been up close in all her previous starts and there is a lot of speed in this field, but I don’t feel she needs the lead to win. Where she ends up going forward from here will be determined by this race.” Samy Camacho, who has joined the local riding colony on a regular basis for the Royal Palm meet, will have the mount on Ifyousaidso. :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. Pulstar, who dueled Ifyousaidso for the lead before tiring to finish sixth in the pair’s first meeting three months earlier, should also attract support in the rematch. The speedy filly will be making her first start since being claimed for $75,000 by trainer Mike Maker out of her 3-year-old debut. ◗ Jockey Leonel Reyes, sidelined after suffering a fractured left ankle in a three-horse spill here Nov. 2, will finally get back to action starting next Thursday, according to his agent, Jose Sanchez. Reyes will return just three victories shy of 1,000 career wins. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
