Ice Box gets post 6 as Belmont favorite

ELMONT, N.Y. - Ice Box has been listed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite in a field of 12 3-year-olds in the 142nd Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the Triple Crown to be run Saturday at Belmont Park.
Ice Box, assigned post 6 when entries were drawn Wednesday morning for the 1 1/2-mile race, will be making his first start since finishing second in the May 1 Kentucky Derby. Jose Lezcano has the mount back aboard Ice Box for two-time Belmont-winning trainer Nick Zito.
First Dude, the Preakness runner-up, was assigned post 11 as the 7-2 second choice, while another Zito-trained colt, Fly Down (post 5, 9-2), is the third morning-line choice. Three others come next on the line at 10-1: Uptowncharlybrown (post 3), Make Music for Me (post 4), and Game On Dude (post 8).
This is the first time since 2006, and only the third time since 1970, that the Belmont has lacked both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner.
ABC Sports will have coverage of the Belmont, with post time set for 6:32 p.m. Eastern.
