I Love You Honey comes off big Beyer in closing-day feature
Delaware Park concludes its 2016 season on Saturday with a 12-race card.
Carol Cedeno will be Delaware’s leading rider for the third straight year, and Jamie Ness will be the leading trainer for the second consecutive season. Ness has won four of the last five training titles at Delaware.
Larry Jones was the leading trainer by purses earnings. Jones won the meet’s signature race, the $750,000 Delaware Handicap, with I’m a Chatterbox. His starters earned $1.17 million in purses. Ness was second with purse earnings of $651,000.
The closing-day feature is a wide-open second-level optional-claiming race at 1 1/16 miles. Favoritism could go to Monmouth Park-based I Love You Honey, who earned a 99 Beyer in his last start while winning a $25,000 starter race at Parx for trainer Luis Carvajal Jr.
