Hygh Jacque goes wire to wire in Snowflake

Pennsylvania shipper Hygh Jacque, stepping up slightly in class off a series of sharp races at Penn National and Parx Racing, used her speed to wire the field in Tuesday night’s $35,200 Snowflake Handicap for fillies and mares at Charles Town.

A 4-year-old filly based at Penn National with trainer Mike Salvaggio, Hygh Jacque ($10.20) scored her fourth win in nine lifetime starts while covering seven furlongs in 1:27.37 under her regular rider, Emilio Flores. It was her third win to go along with a second-place finish in four starts since October.

Hygh Jacque finished 1 3/4 lengths in front of the locally based 5-year-old mare Carolina Tapper. It was another half-length back to Shefoggedmyglasses, a 25-1 longshot.

D J’s Storm broke a step slowly and finished seventh of eight as the 2-1 favorite.
