Hush It Honey outduels Haulin Ice to take Rainbow Miss

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – A pair of grey fillies with white blazes separated themselves from the competition in an epic stretch battle Saturday at Oaklawn Park in the $150,000 Rainbow Miss, with Hush It Honey winning by three-quarters of a length over Haulin Ice. It was another 15 1/4 lengths back in third to Sthenic.
The Rainbow Miss, which was for 3-year-old fillies bred in Arkansas, shared a card with the $150,000 Rainbow won by Patton’s Tizzy ($24.20).
Hush It Honey ($4.40) raced in third along the rail Saturday, as Haulin Ice jumped out to the lead and set fractions of 22.16 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.66 for the half-mile. Jockey Rafael Bejarano angled Hush It Honey off the fence, drew alongside the leader past the quarter pole, and it was game on to the wire.

Hush It Honey got past Haulin Ice at one point in the stretch drive, but Haulin Ice fought back to regain the lead. Hush It Honey then made one final surge late to take back the advantage, and covered six furlongs in 1:10.92.
Randy Morse trains Hush It Honey, and also co-owns the filly with Randy Patterson.
Hush It Honey is a daughter of Too Much Bling who has now won 4 of 7 starts for earnings of $222,000. She was making her first start in a race restricted to Arkansas-breds on Saturday.
In the Rainbow, which was for 3-year-olds bred in Arkansas, Patton’s Tizzy fought back along the rail for a nose win over Landlord. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Chez Whiz.
Patton’s Tizzy, who was coming off a maiden win, broke sharply from the rail under Martin Chuan, and proceeded to set pressured fractions of 22.11 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.82 for the half-mile. He fought through the lane and covered six furlongs in 1:11.88.
