Hunka Burning Love scores easy win in Delta Downs Mile.

Hunka Burning Love picked up his third stakes win of the year Saturday when he darted to a four-length win over Extirpator in the $100,000 Delta Downs Mile.
It was another neck back to Pioneer Spirit in third.
The Delta Mile was one of the first stakes of the meet that opened Tuesday.
Hunka Burning Love ($6.20) pressed Stephen’s Answer through fractions of 23.23 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.38 for the half-mile on the track rated sloppy. Hunka Burning Love took over through six furlongs in 1:13.23 and went on to cover the distance in 1:40.80.

Jockey Tim Thornton was aboard for trainer Karl Broberg, the same team that won five of the nine races on the first card of the meet Tuesday.
Hunka Burning Love is a son of Into Mischief who races for End Zone Athletics. Earlier this year he won the $75,000 Governor’s Cup at Remington Park and the $75,000 Lone Star Park Mile, with the latter victory coming over eventual Grade 2 Charles Town Classic winner Sleepy Eyes Todd.
Hunka Burning Love has now won 15 of 45 starts. The first-place check of $60,000 on Saturday pushed his earnings to $481,329.
Racing resumes Monday with a first post of 12:55 p.m. Central.
