Hungarian Princess odds-on in Swifty Sired Stakes

Hungarian Princess figures an odds-on standout Wednesday at Indiana Grand in the $75,000 Swifty Sired Stakes, but the $75,000 Sagamore Sired Stakes appears considerably more competitive.
Both races are carded for 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt and open to 3-year-olds sired by registered Indiana stallions. The Swifty is restricted to fillies, and Hungarian Princess looks best in a 10-horse field. Listed at 3-5 on the track’s morning line, Hungarian Princess went 3 for 3, winning each start by open lengths, facing Indiana-breds in sprints last year at age 2.
Two of those victories came in restricted stakes competition, and Hungarian Princess, while well beaten in an open allowance race making her 3-year-old debut, produced a career-best Beyer Speed Figure in her lone 2021 start.
Sudden Shift is the pick to win the Sagamore Sired, which goes as race 8, immediately following its sister race. Last year at age 2, Sudden Shift hinted he might prefer two turns to one, but in two races at age 3, both short sprints, Sudden Shift finished second facing older Indiana-bred allowance horses before airing in an age-restricted statebred sprint. Betsdownletsride and Dillsboro Devil should provide the primary competition.
◗ Spa City, who made a name for himself as the regular workmate to Kentucky Derby favorite Essential Quality, is entered Wednesday at Indiana Grand in a second-level allowance race open to $40,000 claimers and carded for turf.
◗ Inthemidstofbiz, last seen winning the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of American this past October at Keeneland, is entered to make her 5-year-old debut in Thursday’s third race at Indiana Grand.
