Bruce Hundley, the co-breeder of champion Fly So Free who founded Saxony Farm near Versailles, Ky., died on Wednesday morning in Lexington at the age of 67, according to reports. Hundley, a native of Louisiana, purchased Fly So Free, the 1990 champion male, when he signed the ticket for the mare Free to Fly for $150,000 at the 1987 Keeneland November sale. Free to Fly was in foal to Time for a Change at the time. The foal she produced the next year was Fly So Free, winner of the 1990 Champagne Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile and that year's champion 2-year-old male. In addition to operating Saxony Farm and acting as a property and horse broker, Hundley served on the Kentucky Racing Commission for seven years beginning in 1992 and was a former chair of the commission's adjunct, the Kentucky Equine Drug Council.
