In Race 4, a six-furlong claiming race, Tiago Pereira pulled up Sturdy One while moving around the far turn.
Stewards Luis Jauregui and Kim Sawyer said it appeared to them, after watching video of both incidents, that Veteran had suffered from a temporary issue in a hind leg, and that Sturdy One had taken a bad step at the three-furlong pole. They did not interview either rider post race. They said the track veterinarian would follow up on the condition of both horses at their respective barns.
