Richard Small tried to get TANACHARISA on the turf for her career debut, but the race was switched to the main track, and she never picked up her feet on dirt. The runaway winner of that heat, Daedal, returned to take a 'n2l' allowance at Philly Park with a 73 Beyer. Tanacharisa has a strong pedigree as the dam was a multiple stakes-winner (52-14-12-10, $531,904, 4-16 on turf) that has already foaled a turf winner. The dam is a half-sister to stakes-winner Polish Miss (first-turf winner of the Hilltop Stakes on the Pimlico lawn). Sire Kingmambo campaigned exclusively on grass in Europe, and has proven to be a good producer of turf performers. Tanacharisa should appreciate switching to grass, and may offer value following that poor running line on dirt.
VANISHED shows good workouts for her career debut, and boasts a strong pedigree. Her dam is multiple stakes-winner Intrigued (7-5-0-2, $146,788, 5-7 on grass, first-turf winner), and Vanished is a half-sister to turf stakes-winner War Charm (6-2-1-1, $60,250, all races on grass). Trainer James Murphy doesn't have the best stats with firsters, but it's hard to ignore this pedigree. PUNCHTHEMAGISTRATE blew a clear lead when dropped in for a tag at Colonial, but may attempt to shake loose once again in this spot.
SHANGHAI BANDIT needs pace to run at, but the lightly-raced, nicely-bred filly makes the third start of the form cycle, and should save ground going into the first turn. AUNT WINNIE raced evenly off the layoff, and the $550,000 yearling purchase can do better against this group. CHERRY RED was bet hard for both starts, and looms the horse to beat after a pair of runner-up efforts at Colonial. ELSIE JAY just missed on dirt for Michael Matz, and that was her first start in over a year. Another that could improve.
