TIMEFORAHARICANE showed improved speed with the addition of blinkers, and finished behind a runaway winner in the quicker division of statebred claimers at Fair Grounds on March 15. The half-brother to stakes-placed sprinter Toolighttoquittoo owns the best last Beyer Speed Figure, and should be prominent from the get-go.
MIGHTYTOOLIGHT makes the important third start of the form cycle after racing wide in the slop behind the top selection. He shows a sharp 5 furlong workout in preparation for this, and should offer some value. MR. NELSON has early zip, but may have to deal with Timeforaharicane, HOLLOW BOUND, and SPLEWACIDE in the early stages. Mr. Nelson has yet to gain ground from the stretch call to the wire in his career, but has never raced this cheaply. He's a half-brother to stakes-placed Another Grey Lady (53-8-7-10, $171,252, only 1-18 in dirt sprints). LOUISIANA VENTURE was well-beaten in both lifetime starts, but seems to be training forwardly for this. He still has some upside potential although the plethora of layoffs throughout his short career is disconcerting indeed. LIL VICS STAR has burned a ton of money in his career as the beaten favorite in four of his six starts (all at 2-1 or less). He doesn't have much early speed, and may need some help up front to adequately setup his late burst. All of his dam's wins came routing so perhaps Lil Vics Star may want some more ground.
