QUICK SONG's dam did her best running on the grass, but she has produced a sprint winner, and her half-sister, Slip With Me, produced Slippery When Bet (four-time winner on the main track, third in the California Cup Classic). Trainer Doug O'Neill is certainly capable of firing with a firster, and his gelding shows sharp works in preparation for his belated career debut.
MOUNT SCOPUS boasts the Hennessy - Affirmed "nick" that produced Primary Suspect, the winner of the Grade 3 Toboggan Handicap sprinting on dirt. Trainer Brian Koriner has already sent out a pair of debut winners in 2007, and both of them were 4-year-olds in maiden claimers. Mount Scopus has been working right along for his debut, and may offer some value. VORACIOUS has lots of early speed, and he should appreciate dropping back a furlong for the important second start of the form cycle. He boasts improving Beyer Speed Figures, but has yet to gain ground from the stretch call to the wire in his career, and has burned a lot of money. The half to stakes-placed router Genteel World must show stronger stamina. RANGE ROOVER adds blinkers after chasing a runaway winner, and he worked a bullet 6 furlongs in preparation for this (presumably wearing the new hood). He should be forwardly-placed while in the clear.
SABIO looms a pace factor from his inside post position, but may be compromised by the similar running style of Voracious. He's another making the second start of the year, and should be tighter for this assignment.
