Purse $48,000 CLOUDBURST raced very greenly in her career debut, but the daughter of Storm Cat goes out for a very crafty second-out barn (26%, $2.76 ROI over the past two years as opposed to 6%, $0.58 ROI with firsters), and should appreciate turning back in distance. The half-sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Boston Harbor figures to be prominently-placed in the early stages, and a repeat of that 83 Beyer Speed Figure will make her tough to beat.
It took COSMIC BELLE a bit of time to figure out what she was doing, but she rallied nicely for the place, and Bernie Flint has excellent stats with young horses. Her dam was multiple stakes-placed, and she should be closing strongly once again. I'M FANTABULOUS may face a bit more pace heat in this spot, but she adds blinkers for an underated barn, and she comes out of a good race. Of the seven horses to return from that Turfway Park heat, four have run either first or second. She's a half-sister to multiple stakes-winner Shot of Gold (515K), and is capable of better at a price.
CALL HER THE CAT disappointed as the favorite at Keeneland, but her trainer shows tremendous numbers going second off the layoff. She seems to have some tactical speed, and may work out a nice stalking trip. CLOSETOATEN has a strong pedigree. The daughter of multiple juvenile stakes-winner Solid Eight (won career debut) is a half-sibling to stakes-winner Louie the Lucky (258K), stakes-winner C. C. On Ice (207K), and Grade 2 winner Euchre (900K). GOODGOLLYMISSDOLLY goes out for dangerous barn, but may appreciate longer distances down the road. Selections:
