Hoppertunity works for Suburban; Mubtaahij drills for Cornhusker

Trainer Bob Baffert will have stakes-winning older horses racing across the country this month.
Hoppertunity, the 7-year-old multiple stakes-winning millionaire, will start in the Grade 2 Suburban Stakes at 1 1/4 miles at Belmont Park on Saturday. Hoppertunity, who won the Grade 2 Brooklyn Invitational at Belmont Park on June 9, worked six furlongs in 1:13.40 at Santa Anita on Sunday.
Mubtaahij, third in the Dubai World Cup in March and second in the Grade 3 Lone Star Park Handicap on May 27, is bound for Friday’s Grade 3 Cornhusker Handicap at Prairie Meadows after working five furlongs in 1:01.80 at Santa Anita on Sunday.
Dr. Dorr, who won the Grade 2 Californian Stakes at Santa Anita in April and was second in the Gold Cup at Santa Anita on May 26, is scheduled to start in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap at Del Mar on July 21.
Triple Crown winner Justify galloped on Sunday, Baffert said, and is approaching his first workout since a return to training following his historic win in the Belmont Stakes on June 9.
Baffert is missing two notable older horses from his stable – Collected and West Coast, who were second and third in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar last November. Collected and West Coast are in Kentucky and have not raced since early in the year. Collected, who won the Pacific Classic at Del Mar last August, was seventh in the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 29. West Coast, the champion 3-year-old male of 2017, has not raced since a second-place finish in the Dubai World Cup on March 31.
