The 3-year-old stakes winners Hope Road and Iscreamuscream are entered in important stakes against older fillies and mares at Santa Anita on Saturday. Hope Road, winner of the Grade 3 Torrey Pines Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at a mile by five lengths at Del Mar on Aug. 31, is entered in a tough running of the Grade 3 Chillingworth Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs. The race is led by Sweet Azteca, who has won three consecutive graded stakes since March in Southern California and is the leading older sprinter on the West Coast. Hope Road, trained by Bob Baffert for owners and breeders Ron and Barbara Perry, has beaten older fillies and mares twice – in a maiden race at Santa Anita in June and an allowance race at Del Mar in August. :: Bet Santa Anita with confidence! The Chillingworth Stakes is designed as a prep race for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Del Mar on Nov. 2 Iscreamuscream, unbeaten in four starts, is the only 3-year-old filly in an expected field of seven in the Grade 2 Rodeo Drive Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/4 miles on turf. The winner of the $200,000 Rodeo Drive Stakes receives a fees-paid berth to the BC Filly and Mare Turf at Del Mar on Nov. 2. Iscreamuscream won the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on turf in her last start on Aug. 17. Trained by Phil D’Amato, Iscreamuscream’s leading rivals are stablemate Hang the Moon, winner of the Grade 2 John C. Mabee Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Del Mar on Sept. 7, and Sunset Glory, who won her stakes debut in the CTT and TOC Handicap at 1 3/8 miles on turf at Del Mar on Aug. 16. There are two graded stakes for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles on Saturday’s program leading to Breeders’ Cup races on Nov. 1 – the Grade 2 Oak Leaf Stakes for fillies and the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes. The $200,000 Oak Leaf Stakes is led by Tenma, winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante at seven furlongs on Sept. 7 for Baffert. The Oak Leaf is expected to produce a few runners for the BC Juvenile Fillies. Baffert has three candidates for the $300,000 American Pharoah Stakes in Citizen Bull, Emerald Bay, and Getaway Car who are part of a projected field of seven that includes McKinzie Street, who was second to the Baffert-trained Gaming in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity on Sept. 8.
