Hoosier Park: Two-year-olds clash in Madison County tests
Rookies were on center stage in divisions of the Madison County on Saturday night at Hoosier Park.
Six colt trotters lined up for their $73,900 race, and it would be Lindy's Crazy Hall (Trace Tetrick) winning in 1:56 4/5 after leading through stations of 27 3/5, 57 2/5, and 1:28. It was the third win for the Cantab Hall colt, trained by Domenico Cecere for owner/breeder Lindy Farms.
Queen Lagertha (John De Long) was second to Rockin Nola in the Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for 2-year-old pacing fillies, but she turned the tables on that foe on this night, winning the $73,000 Madison County for that division by three lengths in 1:53. A daughter of Always A Virgin, Queen Lagertha picked up her fourth win for co-owner/trainer Roger Welch and co-owners David Heninger, Roger Heninger, and Robert Holbrook.
Filly trotters were split into two $41,300 groupings, with the victories going to Swanind Fastlane (Lewayne Miller) in 1:58 3/5 and Nomo Volo (Brandon Bates) in 1:57 2/5. Swanind Fastlane, by Swan For All, broke her maiden for Miller, who co-owns and trains, and his partners Last Chance Racing Stb and C11 Racing, and Nomo Volo, by Explosive Matter, is now a four-time winner for trainer Jeff Edwards and owners Denise Dennis, Frances Wilson, and Dolne Farm Services LLC.
