Hoosier Park: Idyllic Beach blows out field in Kentuckiana Stallion Management

Idyllic Beach was in front at every call on her way to a dominating 1:52 2/5 victory in the $246,000 Kentuckiana Stallion Management for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday night at Hoosier Park.

With Yannick Gingras sitting in the bike, Idyllic Beach left sharply from post nine and was the leader at the 27 2/5 opening quarter. Nobody was willing to make a first-over move at the heavy favorite past that marker, so Gingras slowed the pace, and Idyllic Beach would go on to reach the half in 56 4/5 and the three-quarters in 1:25 2/5. Off that 58 second middle-half she had plenty left in the tank for the stretch, and she pulled away to an open-length victory over Glassine Hanover (Trace Tetrick). Awash (Corey Callahan) was up for third, followed by Always Giggling (Andy Shetler) and Amazing Arya (John De Long).

"She does everything you want. Like I've said a few times before, she was a little bit warm when she baby raced, but ever since she started racing she's learned how to do it," Gingras said. "I got a really good breather in the middle-half, but she did it on her own."

Jimmy Takter trains the winner, a filly by Somebeachsomewhere, for owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Brixton Medical Inc., and Marvin Katz. Taken out of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale for $100,000, Idyllic Beach is the first foal out of Idyllic, who earned just shy of $1.3 million in her career. Idyllic Beach, who has now won six times from eight starts and earned $449,132, paid $2.80 to win.
