Hoosier: If I Were You comes running late

ANDERSON, Ind. - If I Were You rolled past most of the field in the final furlong for a three-quarter-length victory in the $39,150 Brickyard Stakes for older Indiana-breds.

Ridden by Bonnie Castaneda, If I Were You collected his third win of the year in a race where the nine rivals were separated by less then five lengths at the wire. Red's Honor, the even-money favorite, dueled outside Cancion Alegre through a steady pace. The field compacted as they reached the stretch, with all nine horses lined up across the track coming to the eighth marker. If I Were You was still eighth at that point, but he was just three lengths from the lead, and he scooted by to edge clear late.

Trained by William Howard, If I Were You returned $14.60 and covered the six furlongs in 1:11.65 over a fast track.
