Hoosier: Familiar rivals sweep stakes
ANDERSON, Ind. - Down by the Sea got her third straight win at the Hoosier Park meet in the $38,650 Indiana Stallion Stakes for 2-year-old Indiana-bred fillies. A race later, Victory Punch won the $38,850 Terre Haute to end her string of runner-up finishes to Down by the Sea.
Down by the Sea ($2.40), bet down to 1-5 in the field of nine fillies sired by registered Indiana stallions, took command through the turn under jockey Bill Troilo and rolled to a six-length victory in 1:15.02 for six furlongs over a good track.
Victory Punch won her race by three-quarters of a length over Tee's Pearl in the one-mile Terre Haute Stakes for statebred 2-year-old fillies. She returned $15.60 in the field of nine and finished the distance in 1:41.82.
